Abstracts

Abstracts can be submitted under any of the following topics:

  1. Cariology
  2. Dental trauma
  3. Dental materials
  4. Dental anomalies
  5. Dental anxiety and behavioral management
  6. Endodontics
  7. Epidemiology
  8. Growth and development
  9. Orthodontics
  10. Oral medicine and pathology
  11. Prevention
  12. Special Needs Patients
  13. Syndromes and genetics

The deadline for submission of abstracts is:  Monday, January 31st, 2011

PRESENTATION TYPES

Selected abstracts will be presented as oral or poster presentations.
Please bear in mind that the Scientific Committee will review all submitted abstracts and decide as to the final form of presentation (oral or poster) as well as the topic the abstract will be presented under.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION / GENERAL INFORMATION

  1. Abstracts submitted after January 31st, 2011 will not be accepted.
  2. Abstracts should be originals. Abstracts previously published (either completely or partially in local or international journals) or presented at international meetings and/or conferences, will not be accepted.
  3. In order to submit an abstract, at least the presenting author has to be registered to the Congress. In case your abstract will not be accepted for presentation by the Scientific Committee, the Professional Congress Organiser will fully reimburse the registration fee.
  4. One presenter can present ONLY ONE paper, but participate as a co‐author in more.
  5. The author indicated as contact person will be notified about the successful submission of the abstract within three (3) days from the day of submission. In case that you have not received such notification within three (3) days from the abstract submission, please contact the Professional Congress Organiser.
  6. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed according to the Organising Committee’s rulings. The author indicated as contact person will be informed on the status of the submitted abstract (accepted‐rejected),
    its presentation type, date and time by March 30th, 2011, via e–mail.
  7. Please read carefully and follow the instructions, as incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
  8. All papers and abstracts submitted become the property of the IAPD unless prior alternate arrangements have been made with the Editor of the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry (IJPD).

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Given that the abstracts will be reproduced in the Abstracts CD-Rom exactly in the form they are submitted, authors are kindly requested to adhere to the following guidelines:

A. Format

  1. Language: English
  2. Abstract text word limit: 200 words (names and affiliation details are not included)
  3. Suggested font: Tahoma, size 10 cpi
  4. Text justification: full 
  5. Spacing between the title, the author(s) and the abstract text: Single
  6. Line spacing of the text: Single
  7. Abstract title typed in UPPER CASE
  8. The family name(s) of the author(s) should be written in lower case preceded by the first name(s) written in full.(e.g. Maria Reynolds)
  9. The presenting author’s name should be in bold.
  10. All authors’ affiliation details [department, institution/hospital, city/town, state (if applicable), and country] should be written under the names, preceded by the corresponding indices. The affiliations should NOT be mentioned in the abstract text.
  11. The abstract should follow the below standard structure:
    • Background
    • Aim
    • Design
    • Results 
    • Conclusions.

    12. (the titles being typed in lower case and in bold)

  12. Changes, additions or corrections will not be accepted after the abstract submission.
  13. Abstracts having insufficient data or including phrases such as "the conclusions are to be discussed" or "the evidence will be presented" etc. will not be accepted.

Abstracts submitted via fax or mail will NOT be accepted.

REVIEW PROCESS

All submissions will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee and evaluated in terms of their appropriateness and their overall quality. Abstracts will be assessed on their acceptability and eligibility as oral or poster presentations in a constructive and educational way.
