The Organizing Committee has prepared an exciting social program. The Opening and Closing ceremonies will guide us through time to meet the worldwide admired Greek culture.
The Gala dinner will be an elegant event under the light of the Athens historical monuments and the Farewell Greek night will be a party to be remembered organized “the Greek way”. We look forward to welcome you in the magnificent city of Athens and spend a great time together.

A combination of elegant Greek cuisine, music and dancing will ensure a unique experience in the majestic Zappeion Hall.
The Gala Dinner will take place in the circular atrium of Zappeion Hall, the Peristillio, which was the venue of fencing events during the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.
With influences from French and Danish architects, the National gardens found across from the Ilissos river have established the true beauty of nature, adding to this melting point of mythology and history. Having seen over 120 years of history the Zappeion Exhibition Hall has embodied majestic and grand moments throughout over the century. The Gala dinner aims to bask in this rich atmosphere.
Location
Located in the center of Athens, the Zappeion Hall is surrounded by some of the most important buildings in Athens, such as the Parliament building, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; the Maximou Palace, which is the official residence of the Prime Minister; the Foreign Ministry, and other public buildings. Nearby are the National Gardens and, opposite, on the side of the Ardittos Hill, the Panathinaic Stadium; Hadrian's Arch and the ancient Temple of the Olympian Zeus.
Gala Dinner (already fully-booked): Friday, June 18th, 2011. Formal dress is required. Please inform the Congress Secretariat on special dietary requirements before Thursday, June 17th. If you are on the waiting list, please address the Secretariat to confirm if there are any last-minute cancellations.
Transfers will be realized by the Athens Hilton hotel to the Zappeion Megaron where the Gala Dinner will take place.

The Farewell party will take place at the seaside, in one of the most beautiful beaches of Athens – the Lagonissi Grand Beach. The arrival at the party during the sunset will be a wonderful opportunity to relax next to the calm water of the Aegean Sea and the floating bar of the Lagonissi Grand Beach. As the night falls an unforgettable party under the starry sky will begin, with traditional Greek food and of course dancing, as the Greeks know!! This event will close the 23rd IAPD Congress in an unforgettable way, with a lot of lovely memories to bring back home.
